« On 4th May 1986, I finished in 3 hours 38 minutes. 30 years later I finished in 3 hours 53 minutes - how things have changed! The Paris Marathon now rivals the greatest ones, such as those of New York and London, thanks to its good atmosphere and efficient organisation. Well done to the volunteers, to the organisers and to Marc Maury for acting as compère. »

« It was my first marathon and I finished, what bliss! I would like to congratulate the organisers of the Paris Marathon, which I had heard too many good things about! It was impressive, from bib handout to lockers and refreshments... What a team! Thank you so much! You made the day unforgettable for us! The race was so well marked out that we didn't realise how much distance we were covering! And the sun was out! We weren't really prepared, but personally that gave me a boost! As did the music sets, etc., as well as the many spectators! Thank you all, congratulations to all the runners! And I’ll be back! »

« A party atmosphere with emotion, doubts and humility on the part of most of the brave people who embark on this adventure, with some pain (especially towards the end and after the finish line), but it was a proper party. What with the spectators, the very caring organisers (especially the volunteers) and sharing the experience with the other runners, it was a magical experience even if we didn't quite reach our goal for reasons that we can’t remember... I was aiming at less than 4 hours to do better than last year (4 hours 46 seconds) and I finished in a little over 4 hours 3 seconds this time around. No worries, I’ll just try again next year... Just for fun. »

« 1st marathon and a really great atmosphere, wonderful all along the way, people who cheer you on even though they don't know you. Really great crossing the finish line, tears of joy. Roll on the next marathon. »

« The look on runners’ faces as they cross the finish line - pained yet overcome with emotion - sum this personal challenge up well! »

« I feel like the route seems longer than it really is! Last year it went by in a flash, I did see the Eiffel Tower and I remember crossing the finish line. The rest was the marathon’s great atmosphere and the warmth that I still remember! You’re going to have fun, savour this great experience and enjoy it. I will be thinking of all these marathon runners in 3 weeks’ time! »

« There were unimaginable nerves at the starting line, some mates were with me, some great supporters whom I didn’t know, people always on hand with refreshments, I started to get cramps at the 26th km, a runner who helped me through the last 10 metres (cramps in both calves) and a finish line crossing where I cried the whole thing out. And that was my 1st marathon. Well done to the organisers and volunteers. THANK YOU. »
