Queen Elizabeth Park, Vancouver's second largest park occupies the highest point in the city. At the base are a beautiful sunken garden surrounded by small cliffs and some fantastic plants, and an Oriental-style garden filled with pools and fountains.

If you can make it that far, Dawson city, built at the confluence of the Yukon and Klondike Rivers, grew out of the gold rush of 1896. It's pretty much a frontier museum town today, less than 200 kms from the Arctic Circle.
