Known as the Granite City due to its stone fascias everywhere, Aberdeen is a cosmopolitan and prosperous city thanks to the North Sea oil industry. Attractions include King's College, the centre of Aberdeen University, which proudly houses the magnificent King's College Chapel. Several other fine churches dating from the 15th century are located around the town centre. The busy harbour front is an attraction that accentuates the importance of the sea to this town. The Glenfiddich and Glenlivet distilleries are just two famous names found on the popular whisky trail nearby. Famously known as Castle country, the best medieval example on the Deeside is Dunnottar Castle - a dramatic and evocative ruin perched on the coastal cliffside, not far from the city. Historically important, it most recently featured in the Hollywood version of Hamlet. BackAdd to your Save For Later
