Barcelona boasts four Hostelling International-affiliated youth hostels plus a few independent operators. Prices range between about € 8.5 and € 12 depending on where you stay and whether you take a dorm, twin or single room. Probably the best-known hostel in Barcelona is the Hostel Kabul, a lively and diverse place located in the Ciutat Vella (Old Town). Cheap options in the city include the conveniently located Alberg Juvenil Palau and Albergue Arco, both of which are habitable without being spectacular. Further to the north you might want to try the Albergue Verge de Montserrat in the far north near Vallcaca.
There are also a range of smaller and slightly more upmarket hostales and pensiónes in most parts of the city. Many are located to the southeast of La Rambla in the Barri Gòtic, the lively area between the main city thoroughfare and the old town. At the cheaper end of the scale are the Pensión Alamar, the Hostal Marmo and the Hostal El Cantón, all of which offer accommodation around the € 15-€ 18 range (a room with a private bath will usually cost around € 3-€ 4 extra). If you're willing to pay a little more, consider the ever-popular Hotel Lausanne or Hostal-Residencia Rembrandt (€ 24-€ 30, but well worth the expense). It is essential to book in advance, especially over summer. You may also find that prices drop dramatically during the off-season. More expensive but centrally located are the Hotel Lloret and Hotel Roma Reial, with prices around € 80 per night.
There are also good hotels at the western end of La Ramble near L'Eixample. This area is less central but certainly pleasant to stay in. At the cheap end there is the popular Residencia Australia (run by Australians, but certainly not restricted to them!) with rooms from about € 40 or the Hostal Goya, which starts at around € 20 for a single room. If you're after something more luxurious the Hotel Claris, Comtes de Barcelona Hotel and Hostal Ciudad Condal are well worth a look, with prices between € 180 and € 260 for comfortable rooms.
At the very top of the market central Barcelona has some excellent hotels. The most modern is the Hotel Arts Barcelona, a pair of towers overlooking the Port Olímpic. Prices start from around € 300 for a twin room. BackAdd to your Save For Later
