Larnaca is a relaxed resort with its wide seafront promenade of palm trees lined with cafes and tavernas. It boasts excellent tourist facilities and plenty of activities, be they on the beach or in the night clubs. On one end if the town, the Marina welcomes international yachts and on the other end, the town's 17th century fort houses the Larnaca Medieval museum. Nearby are the Pierides Foundation and the Larnaca district Archaeological museums, full of iinteresting artifacts from the aantiquities. Just 11 km west of Larnaca is the 11th century Angeloktisti Church in Kiti village, known for its rare 6th Byzantine mosaics. Stavrovouni, one of the oldest and most dramatically sited monasteries in Cyprus, is not far away. Neither is Lefkara village, famous for its lace and silver.
