Typically Mediterranean in climate but with a unique history as a crossroads between Europe and the Middle East, Cyprus today is a country divided along religious and national lines. The North is occupied by the Turks, the South independently ruled with a distinct Greek influence. But despite having to choose one or the other when visiting, the island boasts a proud and lengthy history with Relics from every era - Greek temples, Roman mosaics and 15th-century frescos.

As a holiday destination it is great value, with charming sun-soaked modern resorts and quaint fishing villages, abundant eastern Mediterranean cuisine and a laid back atmosphere best explored in the hilly interior.
