Salzburg is Austria's Baroque town, and their tourism almost entirely revolves around one Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, offering every conceivable attraction associated with the maestro. The town is small, historic and grand. It is picturesquely located astride the Salzach river and sheltered by surrounding mountains. The Hohensalzburg Castle, presiding over the famous town, is a must see. Nearby, the Arlberg region comprises of several linked resorts and is considered to have some of the best skiing in Austria. St Anton is the largest and least elitist of these resorts, Innsburg is also lovely. The mountains in the region are excellent value all year-round, the Eisriesenwelt caves are among the most impressive ice caves in the world, and the switch-back Grossglockner road, offers spectacular panoramas.
